We are now pleased to be stocking a range of Dalit Candles from their product range. These items are made by the Dalit people of India to raise money to help them build Orphanages and Schools for the children of the Dalit people.
“For centuries, the Dalit people, also known as the ‘untouchables’, have been expected to drink from clay cups that are then destroyed. We are using this powerful symbol of oppression to raise funds for the Dalits by filling them with candle wax and selling them in the UK.” (from Dalit Candles website)
We now have a number of different styles in stock and our stock room is now filled with a lovely lavendar aroma from these candles. Our range can be found by clicking here
For more information about the Dalit Candles and the work undertaken – please visit www.dalit.co.uk

Fairtrade South Gloucestershire, the steering group set up to get Fairtrade Status for the district (which we achieved in July last year) held a very successful Schools Workshop on Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight when Isabel Antonio, a sesame seed producer from Mozambique was over in England – about 6 primary schools involved in games, stories, videos and of course hearing all about live for producers in Mozambique. The day was organised by Mangotsfield Secondary school and held there.

There is a specific Fair Trade Zone at thie event where you should be able to pick up a Fair Trade bargain or two. Unfortunately we will not be there with a stall this year but hopefully I’ll have some pics to post when the time comes. Tickets are £6 each and more details and online booking can be made here – http://bristol.ecoveggiefayre.co.uk/
